”When Owen went to secondary school he quickly became known as the class clown, messing about and distracting other children. His grades were very poor. Teachers kept telling us he was bright but he wouldn’t remain focused. A friend suggested we had him tested for ADHD.
We approached The Croft Clinic and met Tara. She was so compassionate and invaluable at supporting both of us through the process of assessment. Owen was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. The combination of practical strategies and medication have produced such positive results for him. His exam grades have gone from averaging 4’s to 8’s in some subjects. He feels much happier and his confidence has improved.”
"Our daughter’s teacher was concerned because Lucy was struggling with her school work, despite being a bright little girl. Lucy became easily distracted in class and lacked concentration – her teacher felt Lucy was falling behind her potential. These experiences were all impacting negatively on Lucy’s confidence.
The school introduced us to The Croft Clinic and Tara arranged for her to have a free pre-assessment screening for ADHD. Tara explained that this would help us to understand the challenges Lucy was dealing with.
The screening process was straightforward and Tara was very helpful in answering our questions and concerns. The results indicated a high likelihood of ADHD. While this was not a diagnosis, it helped us to understand Lucy better and her teachers were able to provide some tailored support during lessons.
Lucy’s GP used the screening outcome to support a referral for a full NHS ADHD assessment. Sadly, the NHS waiting time is 2-3 years but it’s reassuring to know we have some support in place for Lucy at school while we wait."
“Kasper has always been disorganised. He loses things easily, he’s forgetful and lacks focus. Kasper told us that he found it difficult to concentrate in class, yet we knew he could be incredibly focused on a topic he is interested in.
We’d always associated ADHD with hyperactive kids that struggle to sit still. We would never describe Kasper as being especially hyperactive.
We were so confused about where to go for help or what we needed to do to support Kasper. It was a relief when we met the team at The Croft Clinic and they were so understanding. Tara was invaluable at guiding us through the process of assessment.
We’d never heard of inattentive type ADHD before Kasper’s diagnosis. But now we are beginning to understand how we can best support him.”
“I want to thank the team at The Croft Clinic for making my autism assessment process as pleasant as possible - and for the report which has provided me with much to think about as I embark on the next steps of my self-exploration and development journey.
I’ve found the detailed report very insightful and I particularly appreciated the inclusion of the go-forward recommendations.”
